I know this song for years, however I cannot sing it without crying. It just brings back sad memories of the earlier life I had decades ago that resembles the lyrics of this song. However I still hold on to the hope that someday I can sing it without any grief.

This is so hard to hear, now that my dad is gone. When my parents split, I went with my dad. Growing up I felt like my mom left the both of us. My dad was my best friend. Always there for me.

My wife took a job in the city 3 hrs away. She lived down there all week and came home for the weekend. I took care of our two boys and worked a 40 hour per week job. She eventually met someone else down there and quit coming home on weekends. I made excuses for her to the boys. They don't know the heart break I still feel. But they've grown up and are two fine men. Miss you Dan. The world was a better place with you in it.
